The European Commission has signalled readiness for compromise over a dispute over trade tariffs with the US.
“We have proposed suspending all reciprocal tariffs for six months in order to find a solution for the negotiations”, EC Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis told the German magazine “Der Spiegel”.
This would create a necessary breathing for industries and employees on both sides of the Atlantic”, he added, the ATS.
Former US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Europe.
In response, the EU imposed tariffs on whiskey, jeans and US motorcycles.
Initially, politicians responsible for the Trade Policy in Washington signaled that the new administration of President Joe Biden would preserve his predecessor's tariffs.
