Prince Philip was born into a Greek and Danish royal family. He was born in Greece, but his family was forced to flee into exile when he was just a baby. After being educated in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, he joined the British Royal Navy in 1939 at the age of 18.
Since July 1939, he began writing letters of thirteen years, Princess Elizabeth, whom he had first met in 1934.
