Depressing results: What you should know about Kurti NGO in Albania?

The Vetevendosje movement has participated for the first time in the elections of the Republic of Albania. But, it seems the result is highly disappointing, as neither of the three MPs' candidates managed to get enough votes to become the next Legislatra deputy in the Albanian Assembly. But why this political party did not compete [...]

Officially, Vetevendosje did not participate in the 25 April elections. She gave support to three of her candidates, who ran for deputies as independents.

Iliaz Shehu was the candidate in Lezha County. Boiken Abazi was Tirana District candidate. Kreshnik Merdjan was the candidate in the Gjirokastra District.

But this political party, which has office on the second floor of Building 105 on “Hoja Tahsim” in Tirana, however, seems to have no seats in the Assembly from 140 soos, follows Periscopi.

All this despite all three candidates received support, but also votes from the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo.

Vetevendosje in Kosovo has 59 deputies in the Assembly, which has 120 seats.

However, the VV in Albania, why it is engaged in political life, is organised as the Nongovernmental Organisation and not as a political party.

Albin Kurti seems to have sensed the possibility of even greater humiliation, since he has not allowed direct participation in the April 25th elections.

The election threshold for joining Albania's Parliament is lower than in Kosovo. If in our country, a political party should have at least 5% of the vote to ensure parliamentary participation in municipal life, in Albania it is only 3%.

And, despite all this, the VV has not competed in elections as a political party, but only as an NGO that has supported its candidates.

Albin Kurti is even allowed to run for Albanian prime minister, being a subject of the Albanian Republic.

Whether he will enter this race in the near future is unknown. /Periscope
