Norway should stop using the AstraZeneca vaccine, the Public Health Institute recommended there on Thursday.

The suggestion comes just a day after Denmark became the first country in Europe to ban the use of this vaccine, developed in collaboration with Oxford University.

“Crahed with March when we decided on the temporary suspension, we now know much more about the connections between the AstraZeneca vaccine and rare but serious incidents of trombones, blood clots and bleeding”, said Geir Bukholm, director of Norway's Public Health Institut infections.

“Based on these knowledges, we recommend that AstraZeneca vaccine be removed from the vaccine programme in Norway”.

Following Denmark's decision Wednesday, an AstraZeneca spokesman told “Bloomberg”: “We accept and respect this decision”.

The World Health Organization and the European Barnets Agency have said that the benefits of this vaccine exceed the risks. But not everyone thinks so.
