Despite being caught a few years ago, it was described at last year and last year, mainly during the isolation of the pandemic. From here comes the name of the species, Potamhylax coronavirus, as a reminder of when it is discovered. Symbolically, the name of the species, points to another pandemic, which is occurring in the Kosovo rivers, especially in the Decan Lumbardhin, as a result of pollution, degradation and mismanagement of hydropower plants.
In the framework of the work, molecular analysis of the entire group that is part of it has been done, along with morphine. The presence of this kind tells of the enormous wealth of biodiversity in Kosovo, which unfortunately is becoming highly endangered. The work is the result of excellent co-operation by the Biology Department's Zoo. The work is published in the prestigious magazine Biodiversity Data Journal, which publishes new kinds of science.
