The president's election requires 80 deputies in the Assembly to make the quorum, and then it can be resolved with the simple majority of the 61s votes.
Since November 5th, 2020, Kosovo has been acting as incumbent on the president, as Hashim Thaci has resigned from this position after confirming the indictment for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the Specialised Chambers in The Hague.
In Kosovo, parliamentary elections were held on February 14th, and on March 22nd, 2021 was dedicated to the Parliament and the same day was elected the new Kosovo government in charge of Albin Kurti of the Vetevendosje Movement. His government was backed by 67 deputies.
For the president's election, in the first two votes, two-thirds of the vote is needed, and it beats 80 deputies' votes.
Meanwhile, in the third round, president is elected who gets the simple majority of 61 MPs, but in all three votes at least 80 MPs should participate.
