Demands for voluntary blood donors have been increased markedly since institutions are applying convalescent plasma to treat cases of patients with Codov-19.

Health professionals show that this approach is producing results.

“Convalescent plasma delivery is a method that has been used during the COVID-19 pandemic and has produced relatively good results, because some conditions must be met to use this method. Our immune system reacts to various pathogens, including COVID-19 and in these cases the immune system creates bodies that are willing to fight the same pathogen”, Zogaj says.

Infectian Sali Ahmeti shows that applying this approach has some criteria to meet.

“Plasm is good to be given as early as its early giving shows much better effects than late giving is usually given to patients in serious condition and that are accepted at the right time primarily in the early days of the disease and to apply as soon as possible, where after our clinical and laboratory assessments, we work on what the situation is like and apply the plasma “, Ahmeti says while he thinks the same inmologist Zogaj thinks.

There must be some conditions where the patient must have passed this disease, so COVID-19 for at least 3 weeks after the initial contact and the measure is done through the IGG, which shows the level of antibodies in the organism that must pass a certain level of application because there are certain patients that do not create antibodies. As for the recipients of plasma, according to protocols this should be done after the third day of Coronavirus infection and methodology is simple and given two doses, which is enough to provide a passive protection”, Zogaj points out.

As the calls of citizens are being made on social networks for volunteers who have passed Coronavirus, who still have antibodies of up to 50 of an intensive job, is also developing the blood transfusion center through various shares.

We've continued the stock routine that we've performed outside our institution and are organizing them into different institutions and in different countries, where people have expressed readiness for voluntary blood donations. At the same time, we also do the collection of convalescent plasma, where the donor who passed it, Codavid-19, is classified as the donor of convalent plasma. The goal is to have as many donors as possible”, said Albana Gashi, the manager for promoting voluntary donations to the QKKTR.

Although blood collection shares will continue further, blood transfusion Centre calls for voluntary donations throughout the country.
