This initiative is undertaken because of COVID-19, amid restrictions imposed by governments worldwide to prove that they spread the infection. In an effort to limit the widespread use of plastic cups, which are not always so easily recycled, a native in Kent made the bold decision to become a so-called “pa cup”, which will serve coffee exclusively for customers bringing their cup to the bar.
In England, after the campaign to reuse seven million cups of hot drinks dropped daily and the proposal of DEFRA, the British Environment Ministry, to impose a tax on available coffee cups, to be treated in the same way as a plastic bag, “initiative. Bring your cup” was received positively from the big chains of coffee shops.
This project could represent a positive turning point for both local and environmental owners. Bars that adhere to this initiative often offer their customers a discount to any coffee, or hot drinks, and in some cases a free coffee.
In Italy just days ago, some local residents decided to follow the initiative, however, an active promotional campaign at the national level would be necessary to overcome many people's uncertainties.
