Soldiers fired weapons in the direction of protesters in the Ma Gat Dit district, leaving at least 20 people dead, according to witness statements.

It was reported that soldiers gathered the bodies of those killed at a Buddhist temple, went Anadolu, broadcast newspaper Express.

The local media confirmed 20 victims so far, but the victims we contacted in the region claim that at least 60 are dead. We have heard that the clashes have continued until midnight and that troops of murdered civilians have been hiding in military vehicles”, activist Karen Khin said.

He added that out of desperation from the civil uprising, the military government wants to suppress protesters, adding to the violence.

Stressing that the army has used heavy ammunition against civilians, Khin said thousands of local residents have abandoned their homes, while many others are close to taking this action.

Burma's Army took power through the Pucci on 1 February of this year, moving the elected government away in a democratic manner.
