Basil offers one - way ticket to beggars across Europe, but on one condition

The city of Basel is offering the beggars coupons to travel to every destination in Europe in exchange for agreeing not to return. The city's immigration service is offering railway vouchers and 20 CHF for any beggars seeking it, according to 20 Minutes.

To obtain the coupon, the beggars must sign a written contract promising not to return to Switzerland for a certain period of time. If caught returning, they risk being expelled, they write Swiss media, escorts albinfo.ch.

So far a total of 31 people have received the offer. 14 from Romania, 7 from Belgium, 7 from Germany, 2 from Italy and 1 from France

According to Basler Zeitung, the town has found 60 CHF flights to Bucharest for those from Romania.

Some parts of Switzerland have shown little tolerance for beggars. In 2014 a woman begging on the streets of Geneva was fined 500 CHF. Unable to pay the fine, the woman was held in custody for five days, passing away albinfo.ch.

In 2016 the government of Vaud's Swiss canton introduced a law banning Canton begging.
