WHO alerts: Coronervirus Deaths on the Rise

Coddy-19 infections have increased at an alarming rate for eight weeks in a row, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned, while the virus is involved without stopping in hot spots in some parts of the world. More than 5.2 million new cases were recorded last week, the highest in a single week since the beginning of the pandemic. The alarm was issued by O General Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebraesus during a press conference in Geneva on Monday.
Deaths also rose for the fifth week in a row, he said, with the pandemic that has so far officially claimed more than 3 million lives.
Tedros warned that the pace of pandemic is accelerating, even though some countries speak of their improved vaccination programs.
It took nine months to reach one million deaths, four months to reach 2 million and three months to reach 3 million deaths. Each of these deaths is a tragedy for families, communities and nations”, he said.
And while the most endangered or older adults are completely vaccinated and some economies are opened, the general director suggested that the burden of spreading the virus can be shifted towards young people. He told reporters that infections and hospitalizations among people aged 25 to 59 years of age “are growing at an alarming speed”, perhaps due to very transmitted variants and increased social gatherings among young people.
Concerns about young adults contracting Covid-19 have already been reported by doctors in some hot areas, including Brazil, where a new version has caused a devastating increase in hospital and death.
