AfD enters the election campaign with radical demands: Looking for Germany to leave the EU

Germany's EU accession, a completely different policy towards Corona and not family reunions for refugees. With such statements, the AfD wants to take point in the coming months. With other radically toughed thesis, the far-right ultra-right Alternative party for Germany ( AfD is distinguished by other democratic parties in the election campaign. After two days of discussions in Dresden, more than 550 delegates attending the party's federal congress determined the milestones for the programme for federal elections on 26 September.
Against strong warnings from the party's moderate arm and party leader Jörg Meuthen, who is a member of the European Parliament, AfD recommends an EU exit. The election manfest says: “We consider Germany's exit from the European Union necessary and the creation of a new European economic and interests community. ”
Meuthen party leader opposes EU departure and warns: “Politics is the art of possible”
Even on the topic of migration, hardliners defined our tone. Migration from even qualified employees will be severely restricted. The example of Japan “is the argument.
Legally impossible but that doesn't matter
AfD also requires “rejection of any family union for refugees”. Critics of this statement stressed that this is not legally possible. Party branch president at the Laundry of Tyringen Björn Höcke countered, saying this is not in a legal area but a political field. The only thing that matters is sending a political message to voters. A delegate reminded his colleagues that AfD is a family party. Such an approach would bring her the charge of inhumanity.
The AfD also wants a return to border controls, along with “physical obstructions”, such as border fences at the borders of the German state.
Against closures, masks, tests...
In the pandemic against Corona, AfD clearly opposes the approach of federal government and national governments. It is against restrictive measures or adultery tests, the issue of protection from infection should be left to “to responsible citizens”. The obligation to wear a mask is also generally rejected. Ruling politicians are charged with “politics of fear”.
The federal election candidate issue was not resolved at the party congress. Most delegates rejected the requirements to appoint candidates in Dresden. This issue would now be visited -- as party leader Meuthen used to target through a survey of members. The two candidates must be determined by the end of May.
Party co-chairman Tino Chrupala is believed to be the main candidate. The politician from Saxonia is closely linked to the party's right and represents the AfD in eastern Germany. The camp around Meuthen relies on the deputy Bundestag from Hessen, Joanna Cotar. In a team with Chrupallan, it would represent Western regional branches and liberal economic forces in the party. /Dw/
