Kamenica municipality and company “IAC-KOS” has signed today the agreement on implementing the “Kosovo agricultural technological park” through which the construction of the hydroponic type agricultural greenhouse is envisioned.
The investment value amounts to 6m euros, and the employment of 80 workers -- which includes women, men, young people and disabled persons with an average salary of 600 euros -- is envisioned.
The implementation of this project also received approval from the Komunal Assembly of the Kamenica municipality, where the grant was approved to use real estate of 8 hectares for 25 years.
Kamenica Community Chairman Central Kastrati said this investment is one of the biggest investments made in this municipality since the post-war.
“An investment in the Kamenica municipality, an investment of about 6m euros, which will be one of the largest post-war investments and one of the countries where workers with better conditions will be employed. The deal is for investment to be 26m euros for 25 years, it is also projected that the minimum will have 80 workers. This is the area, we're lucky to start something like this and we also wanted to come to the ground to congratulate you from here the country that has already been implemented by municipal procedures for investors, he said.
Kastrati said Kamenica is the first municipality to implement this project, until he said there will be two greenhouses in this municipality.
On Kamenica level, if I'm not mistaken, it's one or two, but we're the first municipality we've managed to make the deal to help the investor as a Communist. The investors' goal is to have 55 total” in Kosovo, Kastrati said.
Meanwhile, Selim Erdem, representative of the company “IAC-KOS” provided details on the construction of hydroponic greenhouses that are planning to build in Kosovo.
He said he plans to build 55 of these across the country, which said hydroponic greenhouses is an agricultural technique based on substrats for growing landless plants, using mineral nutrients in a water solution.
Erdem noted that numerous plant species can be produced in these greenhouses, which is said to be during the 12 months of the year. All plants that will be cultivated in these greenhouses he said would be free of pesticides.
“We need to be optimistic, of course everything starts with a dream and we have worked for our dreams in the last two years, for the part of the project funding, it wasn't easy, and the new funding model is exactly what we need for Kosovo. No bank, just investors for a short period, until we get the money back, and we'll get the money back, because we have to work together. The other benefits are not only this greenhouse, but all local farmers will learn with us together, how to produce products for international markets and not just for local markets, that's what we want to do here”, he said.
He made it known that wind power will be used in these greenhouses.
This project has given support to all of Kamenica's Komunal Assembly asganists.
