14 years from adoption of declaration for determining Kosovo status

The Kosovo Assembly on 5 April 2007 adopted the declaration on determining Kosovo's status, with which the proposal by chief negotiator Martti Ahtisaari is based. On February 2nd 2007, Ahtisaari handed the proposal to Pristina and Belgrade, where it said Kosovo would be a multiethnic society, governing itself in a democratic and respectful manner [...]
On February 2nd 2007, Ahtisaari handed over the proposal to Pristina and Belgrade, where it said Kosovo would be a multiethnic society, governing itself in a democratic and with full respect for legal order, the highest level of human rights and fundamental freedoms accepted by the international world, and promoting the peaceful and prosperous existence of all its inhabitants.
Meanwhile, on June 10, 2007, American President George W. Bush, visits Tirana, where he says Kosovo will gain independence.
After the talks, Kosovo was declared independent state on February 17th 2008.
