More than 100 people were rescued today in the Mediterranean Sea through two rescue operations, one performed by a charity for migrants and the other by the Italian Navy.
ship “Sea-Watch” saved nearly 80 people, including 11 women and one child.
“Anija currently holds little more than 120 migrants, as more than 40 were saved Thursday”, the charity organisation said, the ATS reported.
Later this afternoon, the Italian Navy said it had saved nearly 50 people in a turquoise that sailed north of Libyan capital Tripoli.
According to the United Nations, some 480 migrants have died in the central Mediterranean this year.
