Osmani has said that each of these women and organisations stands out for courage in seeking their own right, protection of integrity and truth.
She has stressed that these women and associations make up the pattern of activists who have turned their personal destiny into a cause for general good, trying to conquer the truth and become leaders in advancing gender equality and human rights in general.
Order “The Galica” is divided to persons who have been involved, have done acts of bravery or acts of courage for gender equality.
The decorated are:
Vasfije Krasniqi a true heroin of our day. The woman who turned the pain into courage and example of how stereotypes and social prejudices can and should be challenged. The woman, who spoke publicly of the horror experienced during the last war and sexual rape by Serbian forces and the meritorie for driving the road to all surviving women of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo. For the courage shown in her fight for justice, Mrs. Vasfije Krasniqi is decorated with the presidential order “Aste Galica”.
Shyhrete Tahiri-Sleejmani ? The woman who followed stepsteps the way up to bringing justice for the injustice she and many Kosovo women and girls to justice. Surviving sex violence in the recent war in Kosovo, Shyrete Tahiri Sylejmani is decorated for her courage to publicly seek the punishment of rapists. Mrs. Shyhrete Tahiri-Sleejmani is decorated with presidential order “Shot Galica” for raising her voice that helped strengthen the voice of many other girls and women in our country.
Sherrije Balaj é the first woman to testify in Belgrade against Serbian forces who raped her during the Kosovo war. Although she died in 2018, she remains a modern - day hero. For her courage, Mrs. Shehriye Bala is decorated with the presidential order “Friends Galica”.
Marte Tunaj is among the first women in Kosovo to have testified to the violation committed during wartime by Serbian forces. In the most difficult moments of the KLA war, she responded to his body and made extraordinary contributions. She no longer lives, but her work is immortal.
