Vladimir Putin did not specify which vaccine he would receive. The main public available vaccine in Russia is Sputnik V, which is promoting export. Moscow has also provided emergency approval for two other internal vaccines, EpiVacConona and CoviVac.
“Vaxing, of course, is a voluntary decision for each person. It is each person's personal decision,” said Putin during a government television meeting Monday in connection with Russian vaccines against Coved-19.
Putin said it is vital to increase production of domestic use vaccines in Russia, where 4.3 million people have so far received both doses of a two-stage vaccine.
He said Russia had signed international agreements to supply several states with Sputnik V doses for 700 million people.
“Today we can say with confidence and practice undisputedly confirms that Russian vaccines are absolutely reliable and secure,” he said. No other foreign-like medicine has shown such a high level of protection. “
Scientists said last month that Sputnik V had almost 92% efficiency in the fight against Avid-19, given the results of the trial reviewed by colleagues published in the medical magazine Lancet.
According to the Russian statistical agency Rosstat, more than 200,000 Russians had died from Covid-19 by the end of January, the third highest death toll in the world after the US and Brazil. A particular number, updated daily by the government's force for coronarys, uses a much lower figure, reports The Guardian.
