Former Self-Determination Movement Freedom Visar Ymeri says that with the election of Lumir Abdixhik at the helm of LDK, the situation in this party will change by restoring confidence in the electorate, but still does not see any possibility of Vjosa Osman's return to the Democratic League of Kosovo.
Despite the fact that Obadiah considers him an extremely politically prepared person, Ymer responded after Periscop reporting saying he does not think to join him in LDK. In an interview for Online Economy, the former VV leader says ideologically stands different from the Democratic League of Kosovo.
I appreciate Obadiah's choice because it's a good choice for LDK, that doesn't mean I agree with the policies of Lumir Abdixhik, ideologically I'm different from LDK, I'm more of a social Democrat than a left, while LDK doesn't want to make such a move, but I think it's worth politics-making in Kosovo because this adds democracy, especially to democracy, and therefore a new component, so I value as members of LDK, while keeping my differences first with the policy of the former Kosovo, the former town.
In turn, Social Policy Institute director “Mousine Koklari” said Lumir Abdixhiku will face many challenges especially in restoring the electorate's confidence, since, as Ymer says, LDK has had a structure that has worked for personal interests rather than party interests.
The LDK's “goal is to deal with itself to start a process of structural reform maybe and ideologically, and the reason they've chosen Obadiah is because he presents this as a new spirit within the LDK and which I think is a good choice, first of all, is ideologically prepared, is ideologically clearly, and I think his position as LDK chairman will be valuable to both the party for democracy and politics in general. Now to each extent and what speed these reforms will take is the party's internal decision, the new chairman and leadership structures, but which needs the LDK to reform itself at each level of organisation has”, he said, Online Economy.
There's a party that's older and I think that for a long time being in the different positions of local governance and central level in some way have lost communication with the base and the electorate and I think that they have to go back to their branches and leadership structures and recreate a connection with their local electorate and with citizens, I think that through Lumir Abdzixhik they're going to have easier this thing, even though it's a big challenge because of the results of February 14th, and because of a pretty long run-term government, I'd say, a co-DK structure, which seems not all of Kosovo's best, because they have a lot of personal interest. Already with Lumir Abdixhik this will change and I hope”, the former Kosovo Assembly President added.
Furthermore, Ymer says he sees no possibility of the return of Vjosa Osman to the Democratic League of Kosovo.
Osman's “position is different from what was before the election, Vjosa Osmani has competed on the Vetevendosje Movement list and cooked with the pledge to become president, and part of the vote has taken because of this, being the most voted person in the Republic of Kosovo, its goal of its list which seems to be to be elected as president, and the election has been able to deal with daily politics and would require the president not to deal with party politics, because we need a president who represents the unity of the people, Mr. Osman must decide whether to deal with daily politics or not. With what direction has she headed from the president to continue this journey. In this direction I don't see any possibility of her returning to LDK, nor of dealing with Vjosa Osmani's list for at least 5 years as long as she is president”, he said.
The president's election takes place by two-thirds of the votes of all Parliament deputies. Ymer says this process should not be blocked, stressing that political parties should make the quorum for electing the president.
The former Parliament deputy, says it would be more democratic if more than one candidate for the position of the first state competed.
There is no known exactly what is being discussed at these meetings that have been held, as it is reported, is about constitutionalising institutions, so the most challenging remains the election of president and quorum to continue by vote. I think the political parties would have to do the quorum, it would have been good to have another candidate and see who's going to win in the Parliament, but I don't think I have to block this process... If that doesn't happen then there's much room for opposition. I think that especially the LDK, but even the PDK will be strong parties in the opposition, will be parties to discuss and advise the government. It can't always be a party in power like we can't be the opposition. This transition of power adds the charm of democracy”, he said.
Democracy as a standard is high in Kosovo, compared to the countries in the region, the former VV leader says, adding that lack of Kosovo is the positioning of institutions in terms of the interests of citizens.
“... so the Republic of Kosovo is not the republic that is governed by an autocratic tendency, there has never been. Of course, there is concern, concern over Mr. Kurti in this direction, but I think there are very impressive dynamics even demographic and democratic in the Republic of Kosovo what we lack is the positioning of institutions in terms of citizens' interests, and I think that here we have to do more, that we have behind the transition of power in Kosovo, we never have any problem with this, but this transition has not led to change in governance, and I think what Kosovo needs is a change in governance, and this government needs to be different, and the most important thing for me is to create institutional mechanisms in order for citizens regardless of social status to create equal outcomes in their work and poverty, and that means the process of wealth of education, the same and the same process of social performance in the judiciary. I think these are the challenges facing Kosovo, this gap represents other health problems, in relation to education. We need a government that gives equal rights to their realisation, and I think that in this direction the democracy of Kosovo does not move into procedures”, he concluded.
Is this a sign that Shpend Ahmeti, Visar Ymer and Dardan Sejdiu can join Obadiah in LDK?
