Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted after the opening of the Kosovo Embassy in Jerusalem, saying they are deeply concerned about it and strongly condemn it as an act. The decision taken by the leaders of a people who faced great suffering for the sake of gaining its independence, ignoring the plight of Palestinians, who have lived under occupation for decades and suffered major human rights violations, is extremely unfortunate”

Doing so, Kosovo leaders have acted contrary to the established parameters of the peace process, including relevant UN resolutions on the status of Jerusalem and damaged the vision of a two-state solution and peace hopes in the region”.

This minister in their social media response has called on the Kosovo leadership to give up this step they term irresponsible.

“We encourage Kosovo leaders to listen to the sound mind and give up this irresponsible and illegal step”.

The Kosovo Embassy is officially opening in Jerusalem today. Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan had asked Albin Kurti as the winner of the February 14th election to reconsider such a move, saying such a thing could cause major damage to Kosovo.
