The chairman of this association, Ruzhdi Kurtisaj, has declared that by tomorrow morning the decision of the Steering Transport Association's Road Council to protest will be implemented, due to the failure to meet the stand-by agreement or to sub-venis the transportation of bus travellers.
“Tomorrow, there will be no lines, no operators that will maintain the functioning of lines from different cities in the country for Pristina. This is not about urban traffic, we're talking about urban-piferic transportation and interurban transport”, Curtisaj said.
The Society's chairman, Curtisaj, also says they are committed to protest and do not give up until the agreement is realised.
The incumbent government, according to him, has had enough time to implement the demands of public carriers, and for that, as he emphasises so far, it has not reflected. As he adds that there is no doubt that there will be a protest tomorrow.
“We for this reason have given the Government sufficient time to have a positive response and we expect the government to react, on the contrary there is no doubt as to holding the strike, respectively. We have taken the steps in time, we have also announced the Ministry of Infrastructure and relevant departments, which have been reported that since March 17th, 2021 there will be no transport connecting cities in urban transport. Of course, this is neither good for us nor for citizens. We apologize to the citizens, we feel regret, but this is not happening at our will and our will, but because of the depletion of all legal ways”, he says of Kosovas.
Curtisaj stressed that this sector has had the largest economic losses due to government measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
“We've been waiting for the government for 6-7 months and we've been a government partner, because we've had it clear that there were no budgetary means up until the vote on the Law on Economic Recovery, but after the package vote for economic recovery, we have continued the dialogue, where we have been part of several meetings with the minister, with the minister and with the Minister of Finance to reach out to support or subsidisation of road transport, because with two separate decisions from the government is banned the travel sector of”, Curtis said.
He also stresses that the protest will be held at bus stations until the government's promised requirements are met. This association expects all public transport operators will take part in the protest tomorrow.
