A pagan festival, much earlier than Christianity, is the celebration of Summer Day throughout the area of Elbasan but also other cities of Albania.
But on this marked day, and in the years when COVID was not among us, Elbasan was returning to the center of celebration of varied activities, from field trips to happy family lunch, where no ballacum is lacking.
Genesis Summer Day houses the Zana de Cermenica shrine, built on the outskirts of the city of Elbasan, a goddess of hunting, forest, and all nature.
According to the mouthpiece, this fairy came out of her shrine on the day of March 14. Born from generation to generation, this popular festival is one day, which today identifies the very city of Elbasan. Anyone who spends these days near Elbasan will smell the scent of ballaclam.
Balloks are traditional holiday candy. It's not just this day. That makes them even more special. It's sweets cooked with fine corn flour, bio butter and sugar.
Also, a detail of this festival is the putting into the hands of <x0-verine”, a bracelet of white and red fibers tied to the wrist of the hand, and it is selected when the first cell is seen. In some provinces, summers depend on tree branches, mainly lards, that swallows receive and bring prosperity.
In Kosovo, this day is celebrated in several areas, such as in the Prizren region of Zhur, Verin, including the province of Opija in the Sharr Mountains in the municipality of Dragas.
Unlike Albania, however, there have never been institutional arrangements for the celebration of Summer Day in Kosovo, but rites of the ancient Ilio-Albanian pagan holiday have traditionally been preserved for generations by people. True Day is an official holiday in Prizren, according to the Communist Assembly decision.
The COVID Pandemia has caused Summer Day in the last two years to not be celebrated as once and activities such as tradition are organised.
