Russia wants apology from the United States after US President Joe Biden said Putin is a killer and that he can retaliate against Washington if that does not happen, a senior Russian lawmaker said Thursday.
In an interview aired the day before for ABC News television, the White House chief said “po”, when asked if he believes the Russian president is a murderer.
He also said Putin has no soul and promised that his counterpart would pay a price for Russia's alleged intervention in last year's US presidential elections, something which Kremlin denies.
In an unusual decision following Beden's interview, Russia said on Wednesday it has summoned its ambassador to the US for urgent consultations about the future of reports with the United States, Reuters writes.
Konstantin Kosachyov, deputy chairman of the Supreme House of Parliament in Russia, said Beden's comments are unacceptable, that it will make even more bad relations worse and end any hope in Moscow for changing American politics by the new administration.
He said Moscow's call to its ambassador was the only reasonable step to take under these circumstances. “I doubt it will be the only (step) if any explanation or apology from the American side comes from”, Kosachyov said.
