Iran has said it is prepared to take steps towards implementing the 2015 nuclear agreement, as the United States lifts sanctions on this state.
<x0-Iran is ready to take compensatory measures based on the nuclear agreement and fulfil obligations after illegal US sanctions are lifted and after threats and pressure policy” is abandoned, Iranian President Hasan Rohan said on March 7th.
Rohan has made these comments as he accepted Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, who is making efforts to preserve the nuclear agreement.
Ireland is not part of the deal, but Dublin has a role as a mediator for implementation of the agreement.
Rohan has criticised European countries, signatories of the deal Britain, France and Germany for what he has said, a lack of commitment to the deal.
He has said Iran “is the only side that has paid the price of the” agreement.
US President Joe Biden has indicated that there is readiness to implement the agreement, but insists Iran first returns to nuclear commitments.
Former US President Donald Trump has withdrawn unilaterally from the agreement in 2018, which envisions limiting Iran's nuclear programme in exchange for lifting sanctions.
The Trump administration has said the agreement does not include Iran's ballistic missile programme, and support for regional groups, which Washington considers terrorist.
After withdrawing from the deal in 2018, the United States has restored sanctions on Iran.
In response, Iran has gradually abandoned some points of agreement. /rel
