Bojan Markovik from the municipality of Ranillug, this predominantly Serb municipality, claims he has lost his job, only because he refused to vote for Adrijana Hoddzhijcin, representative of one of the Bosnian political subjects from Mitrovica, in the February 14th parliamentary elections in Kosovo.

Markovovic says Ranillug Mayor Vadica Aritonovic from the Serbian List asked him to vote for Hodzic.

Markovic, who is the father of two minor children, worked for the physical security company “Scorpion” with headquarters in Ferizaj, which is owned by an Albanian. Markovic's workplace was in the Ranillug municipality building. The municipality is 60km from Pristina.

He called me (Ranillug Mayor Vedica Aritonovic) and gave me a ballot. I round the option for me and the number on the right, and he said: You will respect this request. Vote for Adrijana Hodjiq and I expect four votes from you. So, for me, my parents and my wife to support this” option, Markovic says in a statement to Radio Free Europe.

They called me on February 16 (two days after the election) for a conversation with the mayor. I went and he said: Where are the votes? I told him I couldn't vote it, nor did my parents want to vote (for the United Community Civic Initiative-Adjana Hodzic)”, he added.

On February 21st, seven days after the elections, Markovic was dismissed by his labour company. The document that was handed over to him on that occasion and which Radio Free Europe has also seen, says his employment has been suspended due to “the reduction of the number of workers, according to the command of Ranillug municipality”.

Markovik adds that the mayor of the Ranillug municipality and other officials distributed ballots with a single political option, which they told citizens to vote on.

Markovik has not complained about his employer's decision and is unwilling to report the case to the police. However, he decided to speak about this publicly for Radio Free Europe, because, as he says, what happened to him is “turp”.

Adrijana Hodzic competed in the election with the United Community-Adrijana Hodzic Civic Initiative. Its subject won 6,422 votes or a seat in the Kosovo Assembly.

However, the Electoral Panel for Anxiety and Parashtre (PZAP), acting on the basis of the complaint of other Bosniak parties, annulled Hodzic's subject 4.205 ballot after announcing final results. The decision was taken with the argument that the number of votes for Bosniak parties increased by 49 per cent, compared to the outcome of the 2019 elections, implies that “never before, thousands of Serb community voters in Kosovo voted for Bosnian representatives”.

Hodzic appealed PZAP's decision to the Supreme Court, which is expected to decide on the issue by 12 March.

The Kosovo Institute for Justice, which represented Hodzic's political opponents at PZAP, said about 10,000 votes have been manipulated, which are orchestrated by the Serbian List.

All of this, with the aim of controlling non-Serb deputies from the ranks of non-US communities in the Kosovo Assembly. Hodzic has consistently denied these claims.

In Ranilug, it received 255 votes, or 9.6 per cent of the general vote in this municipality. And according to the last census in 2011, only one Bosniak lives in Ranilug.

Jevvat His name, owner of the company "Scorpione" -- has only praised Bojan Markovich. Despite this, as he said in a statement to Radio Free Europe, the requirement for reducing the number of workers came from the municipality.

The moment the Municipal Framework requires us to reduce workers, through the procurement office, we are obliged to do the reduction automatically, because that gentleman does not pay. If, for example, we have five people and he says "there's a man to take away," we're obliged to reduce the number, because he doesn't pay the bill”, the name of God was expressed.

But, the name Allah gave no explanation about why exactly Bojan Markovik was fired from work and whether the demand for his dismissal had been made more suggested to the municipality.

You've already asked me a very serious question”, he said.

The name says Bojan was an extraordinary worker, but that “Municipal Framework works on the basis of the policies he has, the party, or whatever else”.

I repeat that he was a very good worker, obedient, well behaved, and respected us”, the name said.

Ranillug Mayor Vedica Aritonovic denies all charges related to Bojan Markovic and adds that he has not made <x0 pressure on people to vote for any political option”.

I'm telling you one more time, as far as the municipality is concerned, no one got away from work”, Aritonovic told Radio Free Europe.

He added he is aware of the case that a security worker was fired, but also claims the municipality has no connection with that.

“They're there to secure objects on the territory of the Ranillug municipality and if his employer fired him, this has nothing to do with the municipality. He is not a municipality worker, but an employee of a physical security company”, says Aritonovic.

The employer links the contracts himself and himself ends them. As far as I know, the contracts have expired. Now only if that contract has not been continued and has it not yet made the decision to conclude this” contract, Aritonovic adds.

Civic Initiative leader “United Community Adrijana Hodzic”, in a statement for Radio Free Europe says “this is the case for police”.

“I hope the master in question is addressing the police. It does not matter who exercises the pressure, even the mayor, who must be held accountable to the law. It does not come in terms of voter will being changed. There must be absolute freedom on election day. I am grateful to this gentleman for not listening to the recommendation and not voting in favour of our initiative, if for that someone has pressured him. I demand that police fully investigate this matter”, Hodzic said.

But she, at the same time, said she doubts the authenticity of Bojan Markovic's confession because “or six numbers have not been pushed forward either in North Mitrovica”.

Amra Memovic is listed in this number.

It received the largest number of votes in northern Kosovo. As for this number, even if there was pressure, it received very few votes from the southern part of Kosovo. That, ultimately, is false”, Hodzic says.

Amra Memovovic received 14 votes in Ranillug.

Out of a total of 120 seats in the Kosovo Assembly, 20 are guaranteed for non-US communities, out of which 10 for the Serb community and 10 for other communities living in Kosovo.

Given the current results of the Central Election Commission, the Serbian List won ten seats in the Kosovo Assembly, guaranteed for the community.

The Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Roma Initiative won from two countries each. Bosnian political subjects, the Vacat Coalition, the United Community, Adrijana Hodzic and the New Democratic Party, won one seat each. The United Party Gorane, the New Democratic Initiative of Kosovo, which represents the Egyptian community and the Ashkali People's Party for Integration won from one seat in the Assembly.

PZAP also annulled over 800 votes, which the Roma Initiative has received from the Serb community in Kosovo, the subject that won 4,049 votes. The reasons are similar to that of Adrijana Hodjiq.

Certificate of election results will take place when the Supreme Court, like the last instance of complaint, decides on complaints of political subjects or candidates for election results. The court has deadlines to decide by Friday, March 12th.

The Vetevendosje movement, led by Albin Kurti, won a convincing victory in this election. It is expected to form the new Government of Kosovo. However, Kurti has on several occasions said he will not include the Serbian List, which he considers a Belgrade instrument in Kosovo, in the ruling coalition.

Kurti's party won 58 seats, meanwhile, for electing the government requires 61 votes. Kurti has said he plans to form the government with some deputies from other minority communities.
