But the head of the company involved in efforts to free the ship from its stalled position has called for caution, saying completing the operation would not be a “broken cake”.
The Ever Given ship has been blocking one of the world's busy trade routes, forcing companies to redirect ships and causing major economic losses worldwide.
Reports that the ship was partially released increased hopes that traffic would continue within hours.
