These are the people who have already announced candidacy for mayor

Although in the pandemic, Kosovo managed to organise parliamentary elections on February 14th of this year.

But this is not the only time citizens will go out voting for their representatives in 2021.

That is because in October, they are expected to announce local elections for the country's municipalities, following the four-year term from 2017.

Even though it is seven months from now, several candidates have already been announced for mayor.

He's the first of Drenas, Ramiz Ladrovci, who on January 6th confirmed the nomination for the second term of the mayor of Komuna.

Meanwhile, Istog chairman Haki Rugova's post, Hakki Rugova, would for the first time try to catch his party together, Beka Berisha.

Although he left the country to Bekim Jashar in Skenderaj four years ago, now Sami Lushtaku has confirmed that he will re-advancing for mayor of this municipality.

Meanwhile, the last to announce the candidacy for mayor is Zafir Berisha from the Social Democrat Initiative.

The cyber security co-ordinator in the Hoti government decided to enter the race for the first of Prizren's municipality, led by Mytaher Haskuka, and not known if this one will run again.

The announcement of early candidacy may be due to the overthrow of national losses, says analyst Bekim Kabashi.

According to him, however, national elections with local ones differ greatly and cannot reflect the same outcome.

Under the local election law, the latter must be announced no sooner than 60 days before the mandate is due, or not later than 30 days from October 22nd, 2021.
