Ombudsman Naim Qeyaj considers the AAK representative's request to the Central Election Commission (KQZ) as legitimate, to have full recounting of votes to return “to the election process” after abuse cases.
Down in an interview for Online Economy, said Kosovo has created powerful institutional mechanisms, which believe it will rightly decide on all the demands and complaints coming from all political parties.
“In fact, what is both the requirement of our Constitution, but also of international acts in the case of respect for human rights is to be respected will and right to vote, then the rest is the technical part that belongs to legally mandated institutions. However, we have monitored the election process and come up with several statements during the campaign and the end of the” elections.
There have been some disturbing moments especially not to comply with anti-Condavid measures, but our statement has not been ignored. On the other hand, we have received many complaints related to voter verification abroad, in the end we have received complaints about the voting counting process, but also voting, complaints have been addressed by parties of non-Serb communities, not Serbs, they have been called for a vote manipulation. But at this stage where the numbering and Certificate of results is located is not our mandate as ombudsman nor does it interfere in any way”.
“On the other hand as to the requirements for total recounting of votes I cannot have a position now, because still under my mandate I cannot be allowed to question this subject, yet I believe we have achieved to create powerful institutional mechanisms with the right decision about all complaints. All I can say at the end that the election process has been a test passed with the most positive mark possible, not despite the tensions that have been possible to arise due to political rivalry we have managed to have a democratic process”, he said.
The request is legitimate, but each one will be the decision I don't know, so it can only remain in the shell of this statement. So everything that comes to take off the dilemmas about citizens being respected for choosing is legitimate, but then there's the assessment of the authorities who have a mandate to decide on what they have to do with”, Celaj said of EO.
At the recent meeting of the Central Election Commission (KQZ), representative of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ibrahim Selmanaj, called for full recount of the votes to turn “credibility into the election process”.
Vetevendosje movement spoke out against this request, while The PDK has been declared legitimate to request recounting, considering that commissionors have been arrested at the result counting centre for vote manipulation.
