Acting Economy and Environment Minister Muharrem Nitaj has been declared in connection with the appointment of public enterprise boards.
According to him, most of these companies' boards have passed the mandate, but says it has decided not to proceed with their re-election, “considering it reasonable that this process remains the new government”.
I didn't proceed with the selection of new boards, even in cases when all the recruiting, interviewing and positioning procedures were completed, as is the case with the Board of Telecom. I have also supported partner suggestions in the recruiting process, that in some cases the process of interviewing candidates who have already applied to regular competitions for members of public enterprise boards”, Nitaj has said.
He says he has suggested to the provisional boards not to announce contests for selecting executive chiefs.
“Sic is aware, the interim Infraco Board has chosen the chief executive chief of Infraco, even though the Public Enterprise Policy and Monitoring Office has found that it has lacked co-operation with the shareholder and there has been violations of the competition criteria. I as minister have asked them to bring the process back to zero, but despite that they have proceeded further, ignoring the Ministry's demands, which is the shareholder of this company. Moreover, this Bord has chosen the chief executive of Infrakos for a five-year term, while under the Law for Public Enterprises, at Article 15.1 is determined that each director is elected to a term of 3 years”, the minister points out.
Nitaj says he requested an urgent meeting with the Infrako Board to receive their explanation, “which has not been realised with the argument that the board chairman is not in Kosovo”.
He also says to have demanded legal interpretation in the case of the Post, if there have been violations in the process of selecting the chief executive chief and says he is awaiting him.
“As minister, in accordance with the Law for Public Enterprises, legal interpretation and competencies I have, since today I will propose that the dismissal of the Infraco Board of Infracos”, the acting minister of economy and environment, take place.
