diplomacy professor Valon Murtezaj has said recent meetings of US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer, with Kosovo political leaders, highlight the importance of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue process from the American perspective.
Murtezaj in Info Magazine has stressed that the main problem in terms of dialogue is the destructive approach on the part of the Serbian state.
The US “Relations except partnership are both friendly. The meetings highlight the importance of the dialogue process from the American perspective. Dialogue, it's always been a complex process, but it's been a European-American commitment, even as much as it has a key role with the organization of meetings, the EU has. But the Americans will still be part of this, I don't know if they'll be on the table in the same style, but it'll be a joint project”.
“The intervals of representation and contribution to dialogue are different may be enough for the current officials dealing with the Kosovo issue, and there may also be some special issue from the US, but it depends on how they project it”.
“I think the main issue of concern is Serbia's desrucies approach, and the lack of EU pressure at Serbia”, Murtezaj has said.
Murtezaj has stressed that Kosovo has made all compromises regarding the report with Serbia even during the dialogue process, but also prior to the February 17th 2008 declaration of Independence.
Kosovo has made all compromises even along the dialogue process, but also before declaring that Independence. The biggest mistake could happen if from the Kosovo side ignores the past. What can be offered is within these modalities that Kosovo has now made as compromises should be found to match any time development within the past few years. All must be inside within the Kosovo Constitution and the Ahtisaari Pack. Anything that goes beyond Ahtisaari's package will be damaging to the state of Kosovo”.
“Therefore, what can now be done can be carried out in the implementation of agreements that have been made and the compliance of Kosovo's rules and laws, because it is said in those documents signed thus far”.
