Leave Lushtaku request PDK: Propose Murat Yasar for President

Selected MP The PDK, Mergim Lushtaku, has denied that at the party's Steering Council, it has demanded that it stay in the Assembly Hall when Vjosa Osmani is voted for presidents. Lushtaku said he has requested that a unifying candidate such as Murat Jashari be proposed at the president's election session and that [...]

The PDK has held the assembly of the party's Steering Council on March 18th, where a decision has been made that its 19 deputies will not vote for Vjosa Osmani president.

However, it was reported that at this meeting, deputy from Drenica, Mergim Lushtaku has proposed that the PDK stay in the hall on the day of the president's election, which he himself denied Lushtaku in a proposal for Gazette Express.

We've had an internal discussion on the board, what's the truth is that I said we should come up with a proposal with a unifying candidate like Murat Jashari or a university professor, so propos a unifying candidacy and I never said that we should vote Vjosa Osmani is not true. I have said that a unifying candidate should be proposed to all the political spectrum Kosovo needs in these political circumstances that have been created to overcome party resentment”, Lushtaku said.

Lushtaku said that the winning double of elections -- Albin Kurti and Vjosa Osmani -- if they continue with the tendency to ignore, then the maximum likelihood is for the country to go to the polls.

We first need to see what the interest of Kosovo is, whether it should go to the elections again under these circumstances, but if it continues with this tendency, with this disregard there is no language of reason that someone in Parliament stood up. They are not asking for a unifying personality, but they are asking for one person who has voted for president then the maximum likelihood that the country will go to the election and it will simply be a problem for the PDK to stay in the hall because Vjosa Osmani despite its parliamentarians has not created unity but always divisive language, and as such there is no possibility of being unifying as president”, Lushtaku said.

President Vjosa Osmani's post in the February 14th elections has competed on a joint list with Vetevendosje Movement, which has won 50.28 per cent of the vote. Osmani, who has received over 300 thousand votes in the election, has been competing as a candidate for president.

For a person to be elected president of Kosovo, under the constitution, in the first two rounds of voting it must secure two-thirds of the Kosovo Assembly vote of 120 seats. Meanwhile, in the third round, the president is elected the one who gets the simple majority of 61 MPs, but in the vote at least 80 MPs must participate.

If even the third round fails, the country goes to extraordinary elections that should be held within 45 days.

Until now, the non-Serb communities have been declared voting, meanwhile, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has said it is up to the Vetevendosje Movement and Vjosa Osmani to secure votes for president.

The Democratic League of Kosovo has said it does not vote for the election of a party president.

Following the certificate of election results, on March 22nd it is scheduled to hold the constitutional and eighth legislative session of the Kosovo Parliament, where 120 new MPs are expected to take the oath and elect the chairman and five vice-presidents of the institution.

The assembly's institution paves the way for the formation of the new government and the election of Kosovo's new president.
