The Democratic League of Kosovo is holding meetings with presidential candidate Vjosa Osmani, to be assured of what will play a unifying role and representation of the people as well as required by the president, Albanian Vice President Shqih said in an interview for Online Economy.

She said that in the party they are working to achieve a common position about choosing the country's first, but has said such a decision will be made after another meeting with Osman.

“The Democratic Order of Kosovo, its chairman Lumir Abdixhiku, is holding meetings together with the deputy mayors to discuss, to ensure that Osman will play a unifying role and represent people's interests best as required by the president's position, whoever he is”.

There are different opinions, but this is natural in each party leadership, in each general council, there are different opinions. What we are working for now is to achieve a unifying attitude despite different voices. To come up with a common stance, but that depends on several meetings of at least one more that is expected to have our leadership with Osman”, Medic told EO.

She said the LDK will be a constructive opposition where it will criticise when necessary and co-operate on issues of national interest.

“The LDK is in opposition since it has scored a poor result in recent elections. It will be part of the opposition by playing a constructive role, considering all proposals, draft laws coming out of the Kosovo Government. We will criticize when necessary and of course play a supportive role at the time required. There are issues of importance for Kosovo that require interparty co-operation or superparty”, she said.

Medici has said he believes the new LDK chairman will bring changes to the party, saying the reason for the deputy chairmanship's admission to this party has been the leadership of Abdixhik.

I believe that Abdixhiku will bring change to the party, that is one of the reasons that has led me to join the Democratic League right now. I've had this opportunity to be a part of the League, but I think now there's room to contribute not only to me, but also others who are recently attached and who will be joined in the coming days and months. So it is an opportunity to contribute by knowing that the new leadership led by Abdixhik will indeed bring about no rapid changes but long-term good changes for the political scene in Kosovo”, LDK deputy chairman said.

She has said that as deputy speaker she will engage together with the team for a party return, stressing that co-operation with the structures in the municipality will be strengthened.

“As deputy chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo will first work jointly with the team to restore the LDK to the position it has had and with the aim of receiving a greater support of youth in Kosovo, since it constitutes the largest percentage of Kosovo's policy structure. As deputy speaker, I will also work closely with our associates in the municipal structure of the Democratic League -- that is, in different Kosovo municipalities -- in order to strengthen communication with them because this communication has broken in at a certain time. By functioning these structures, of course, we understand better what the electorate requires at lower levels and not just to take the position of the electorate at a central level. I will try to strengthen more international co-operation that we have decided with our sister-in-law parties in European countries and also with the group of parties in the European Parliament, and all other centre-right parties”, Medici has said.
