Krasniqi: With this increase in cases, the health system is under threat

Kosovo University Clinical Hospital Service Director Valbon Krasniqi has warned that with this trend of increasing the infected, the health system will be put before major and serious challenges. He said they are currently managing clinical cases, but that if hospital capacities are exceeded, mechanisms should be introduced for [...]
Krasniqi has declared that by the beginning of March there are increases not only of the infected, but also of those seeking hospital treatment.
On March 1st, we have an increase in the number of cases, not only the infected, but also those who require hospital treatment. Now we have 692 patients being treated at the Infectious Clinic and all the general hospitals and QKUK clinics. So, if we compare with the number of patients we have 10 days ago, we have about 150 to 160 patients more than 10 days ago, and if this trend continues, the health system will be placed before extremely big and extremely serious challenges”, Krasniqi said.
The USKKUK director raises the alarm that if measures in force are not respected, Kosovo risks having an even greater number of those infected with COVID-19.
Krasniqi has even raised concerns about the non-insulting of persons who are resulting in positive coronavirus.
If we can say restore our attention to the pandemic and respect the measures that are in force, we can still get out, otherwise we risk having a much greater number of infected people, so these are our constant calls that the measures that are in force, especially wearing the mask, disinfecting the hands and distances, and not gathering people, must be respected. What we've recently noted is that citizens or patients who result in positive are often failing to respect the measures and are circulate, so I give a very sincere appeal to at least all those who result positive should not be allowed to appear”, Krasniqi said.
Krasniqi once again renewed the need for a hospital that would only treat patients with COVID-19. He says that if USKUK's capacities are exceeded, other mechanisms must be engaged to secure beds.
We've long demanded that we have additional capabilities, so that we have hospitals for COVID alone, so if our capabilities as Hospital Service are exceeded, of course we have to engage other mechanisms to secure beds....2050 we plan to accept all those patients who potentially need hospital treatment you know that during November, we've built up to 1000 beds to accept patients at a total level of all hospitals and QKUU are 4 thousand beds but we have patients with other diseases. We since we reach the 1,000-bed capacity of around half a quarter or over 25 percent of all current beds are used for patients with COVID, and this is a huge burden for Hospital Service”, he said.
University Clinical Centre of Kosovo Director Valbon Krasniqi says that with the increase of cases, other clinical services are being forced to be violated.
We're managing clinical cases, and we're committed that any patients who need hospital treatment have to build beds and we have to create space for them to survive. However, we must all realize that any increase in the number of cases requiring hospital treatment will be paid to a patient or to another patient with other diseases. So in one way or another, we're forced to violate other services to offer beds to these patients“, he said.
The total number of positive cases is 76,688 cases of 351,523 suspicious persons in the SARS-CV-2 virus and 1.696 cases of death. Despite these figures, Kosovo has yet to obtain any doses of anti vaccine - CO VID for its citizens. /
