Kichmari: Opening the Embassy in Jerusalem as a political act, talking to friendly states against

Former ambassador to VV member in 2019, Sabri Kicmari, has estimated that the opening of the Kosovo Embassy in Jerusalem has no easy agreement on Kosovo's status with other countries, he says opening this embassy there is political and already promised by the prime minister in office. “Now open [...] embassy
He says opening this embassy there is a political act and already promised by the prime minister in office.
“Now opening Kosovo Embassy in Jerusalem is the political act promised by incumbent Prime Minister Mr. Hoti he spoke in the name of the Republic and she must record this as such. Since we are one of the first countries to have opened the embassy in Jerusalem, there are, of course, not easy concessions for Kosovo's status in relations with other countries, but my view is that it will be managed as a situation”, he said.
The former ambassador says the future government will have to hold talks with other Kosovo friends like Turkey and some Arab countries that oppose the opening of the embassy in Jerusalem, as he says to explain the arguments and elements leading to the embassy's deployment in the Israeli capital.
“Our friends, the US, also have the embassy in Jerusalem and this facilitates this position of the Republic of Kosovo, while with other friends so Turkey and the Arab countries are wanted by the Minister or the future ministers who will receive the mandate to communicate with Turkish and Arab diplomacy to explain the elements and the arguments that have influenced the Republic of Kosovo to open the embassy in Jerusalem, and I am very convinced that our story stands and our friends will understand them”, he stressed.
The former ambassador said that the whole debate over the opening of the embassy there was natural, and reactions are quite normal, and the issue is finished embassy has already begun work.
The debate was now natural because reactions were different both within the country and abroad, so we had public statements from the president of Turkey and reactions from some Arab countries and in such a context it is natural to have debates about a decision which, of course, is not easy and participates among the first countries that have decided to open their embassy in Jerusalem. But I think the debate goes into the framework of an analysis regarding the consequences and priorities the act of establishing diplomatic relations with Israel and then opening the embassy in Jerusalem. I think these last few days the situation has already calmed down. Kosovo's charge is in Jerusalem and has held its first meetings, so the issue is finished in the context of interstate relations and in the context of whether the embassy should be opened in Jerusalem or not, now the embassy is open there and has started work”, Kicmar told the EO.
The opening of the Kosovo Embassy in Jerusalem is the result of the September 4th agreement in Washington, where Israel recognised Kosovo's independence. The European Union has also come against Kosovo to open the embassy in Jerusalem.
