HANDICOS presents strategy aimed at protecting the environment and acquiring disabled

HANDICOS Executive Director Africa Maliqi said this project has been described as achieving the sustainability that will affect not only this category in need, but all citizens of Kosovo.

Maliqi until she listed several requirements for Kosovo's future government, said that through these demands it is affected by the overcoming challenges for disabled persons in Kosovo.

The implementation and implementation of legislation in Kosovo, the involvement of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Limited Skills in the Constitution of Kosovo, approval and implementation of the three-year plan for disabled persons based on ten years strategy, and yet the one-year plan and the 2022 year proclamation of rights of disabled persons ... I won't call the project an achievement of sustainability that will directly affect not only disabled persons but also all citizens of our country“, Maliqi stressed.

And Gazmend Billajoll from The Balkans Forum hopes that through this project they will achieve their goals of skills for people with limited labour markets, as well as the removal of plastic bags.

The project has generated great enthusiasm among participants in those who have been trained and employed, showing ambition that they will try to open up family business, and that means not only that they will employ family persons but other people... This project will have as much effect in the future as in employing disabled people as well as protecting the environment and that this is a project goal. A major goal of ours is to reduce the use of plastic bags, in the near future we are hoping to have a law prohibiting the use of plastic bags“, he said.

Kosovo's next MP from the Vetevendosje Movement, Eman Kundman, said the demands of persons with disabilities from the new Kosovo government will be heard.

These activities will also find support on the part of the new government, but also as the Kosovo Assembly whenever and we will have co-operation in the future that will solve your problems and challenges. I commend you for the work you have done and hope that there will be as many projects as possible and that there will be a good end to discrimination in employment, especially of disabled people who are present for us as society”, Canthman said.

Also present at the event were the beneficiaries from this project who worked on creating bags aimed at protecting the environment.

Fort Vishselli, one of the beneficiaries, said she was at first skeptical, but now that they are seeing the result, they are happy. She has even invited other members to join this initiative in order to become skilled at the job market.

My first impressions of the tailoring course were very skeptical because I had no knowledge either in the car or in the sewing of all the points that belong to this issue, but with the help of HANDIOS staff we arrived today where I would like other members to join us for our dress course, and all of us to be equal for a country of”, she said.

On the other hand, Agon Caka, who is a member of HNDIKOS but also a part of this project, sought support from this category and this project, which he said, aims to protect Kosovo's environment.

I first started with the routine course, but at times we had different projects and different training, but this has been the first time to do how to process a strategy or way to do that, it was a challenge to do that. Perhaps the strategy seems simple, but there is great value to a motive and a great message that will show that it will protect the atmosphere”, he said.

The “Project include disabled people in the labour market through the production of re-usable strategies as environmental protection” is initiated by November last year and is expected to be completed by mid-April. This project as a whole is supported by the Swiss Office in Kosovo, Meridian Express and several other companies.
