The EMA committee concluded that the vaccine data met all criteria for efficiency, security and quality.
The Janssen vaccine is the fourth authorised in the EU to prevent COVID-19 and so far the only vaccine that needs a single dose.
The “Johnson vaccine and Johnson” can be stored in normal refrigerators, which can facilitate its transport. It is 67 percent effective in preventing COVID-19.
In the phase 3 of clinical trials, the vaccine showed a high degree of prevention against serious diseases, with an efficiency of up to 85% and 57% in the case of the coronary version shown in South Africa.
Under the agreements, 200 million doses are expected to reach the European Union by the end of 2021. /tch
