US to join UN for empowering women's rights

The United States will join the United Nations Association's Friends Group (OKB) to eliminate violence against women and girls, since <x1 when women are most successful, countries are the most successful”, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Grenfield declared today. “The United States and the administration of Joe Biden and [...]
The United States and the administration of Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are deeply concerned about gender equality and the independence of women and girls in the world”, the diplomat said.
She spoke at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on women's participation in peace processes organised on the International Women's Rights Day.
We believe that when women get hired and countries do better,” said Linda Thomas-Grenfield.
The UN group, which will join the United States, is an informal body founded last year, bringing together several countries that share similar views on women's rights.
Under the administration of Republican Donald Trump, the United States has consistently opposed its traditional allies over women, especially by vetoing a German text proposal on sexual and reproductive rights in war situations.
Linda Thomas-Grenfield also announced that Kamala Harris will give a speech on March 16th on the 65th Committee on Women's Status, demonstrating the importance the democratic administration costs the subject.
This event mobilized thousands of women each year to the UN. As in 2020, this year will be held practically due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The United States is returning to the UN. We strongly support the United Nations Women, Peace and Security programme” said the US ambassador.
