The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) today will hold the General Assembly, where the chairman and other party bodies will be elected, after the last elections of February 14th, this party was ranked third in a row with 15 mandates won in the Kosovo Parliament, comprised of 120 deputies, who failed to score the LDK, prompted its chairman Isa Mustafa to resign from his position.

The LDK statue stipulates that candidacies for mayor take place in the work of the assembly. The next LDK chairman, who is expected to be elected Sunday, will have duties and responsibilities that he is obliged to carry out during his mandate in leading this party.
According to LDK status, these are the tasks and responsibilities of its chairman:
The chairman represents the LDK in accordance with the statue and the LDK Programme, both locally and abroad;
He leads the work of the LDK and its organs;
He calls and heads the meetings of the LDK Parliament, the General Council and the Headship of the LDK;
Taking care of implementing the decisions of the Parliament;
Take decisions and political positions in accordance with the LDK Programme and Statistics;
He appoints the LDK spokesman;
He appoints leaders in the LDK administration;

As for his work, the chairman responds to the LDK Assembly. With a proposal of 1/3 of the members of the Parliament, the question of the mayor's vote of confidence could be raised. The vote for confidence can be raised by the mayor himself.

The chairman may resign before the mandate is expired.

Otherwise, the first chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) was Ibrahim Rugova, elected in October 1989 when this party was also founded. Later in December 2006, the chairman of this party was elected Fatmir Sejdiu, followed by Isa Mustafa, who received the LDK's first mandate in November 2010.
