The American institution told Euro News that Kosovo's Specialised Chambers and the Specialised Prosecutor's Office “have the full trust of the American government”, a day after an association of former KLA fighters living in the US wrote to President Joe Biden for the conduct of the Special Court in Kosovo.
“We continue to believe that Kosovo institutions must secure full and clear support for the Specialised Chambers and Special Prosecutor's Office”, one of the UN's spokespersons told Euronews.
Albanian-American soldiers of the Kosovo Liberation Army on the 22nd anniversary of NATO's attacks on Serbian targets, in a letter written to US President Joe Biden, have requested the transfer of the Special Court to Kosovo, while citing “political intervention” to it.
“ ...in order to reduce this damage and ensure the independence of the court we seek your attention to prevent political interference and to displace the Specialised Chambers from The Hague to Kosovo. Kosovo is a sovereign country and would have to manage justice and the judicial system itself”, it says on paper.
The Atlantic Association, which represents 400 US-based KLA veterans, did not respond to the demand for media comment.
