Daka: Total vote recount requires legal rationalisation

Central Election Commission Chairman (KQZ) Valdete Daka says allegations of rigging candidates' votes for MPs have damaged the election process, but she does not believe there is reason for total recounting of votes. The representative of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) in the CEC, Ibrahim Selmanaj, at Wednesday's meeting of this institution, which is responsible for organising the elections, called for full recounting of votes to return “to the election process”.
In an interview for REL Daka says the outcome of prosecution investigations should be expected, but she is convinced that manipulation has no general character.
This is unfortunately (with commissioners) repeating to us”, aka said.
According to her, the Commissioners of the Counting and Results Centre (QNR) should undergo a more rigorous scrutiny of their past, and the CEC does not have any other mechanism to protect the integrity of the vote.
The fact that Kosovo is consistently holding early parliamentary elections, according to Daka, is affecting that even the CEC itself is not able to learn from mistakes or shortcomings of preliminary processes.
Daka says total recount requires strong legal reasons
A change is already known, it is public, that an MP candidate has lost that mandate, but there are no other changes. So it was an organized group that arranged the outcome for a certain person and only in an extremely small number of locations. Meanwhile, as for the results of other candidates, there are no visible changes and no changes to the candidates' rankings. I can't speak, because in the end I only have one vote in the CEC. However, the CEC will also consider AAK's request that the recount of all votes take place, but a legal reason should be given for the recounting of all the” votes required, Daka said.
