The Central Election Commission (KQZ) will not need an additional budget for the organisation of local elections, though this process is expected to be kept challenged by the pandemic as well.
The head of this institution, Valdete Daka, in an interview for Online Economy, has confirmed municipal elections will have a higher cost compared to national ones, due to two rounds.
“We have predicted how much local elections will be and anyway these will be more expensive because of the two rounds, but also the tools we need for preventing pandemic they are already pre-emptive and there will be no need for additional budget”.
The situation created by Coronavirus, it is expected that the CEC will bring problems in organising the elections, but Daka hopes that there will be an inoculation of the population, which she says would not need additional measures.
The pandemic situation is likely to be what's mostly going to bring us problems, maybe I hope the population will start vaccinating and maybe the measures will be eased and there won't be a need for these preventive measures, but they have also increased the cost of the election”.
The CEC's first said they are already ready for this election, despite not thinking that national ones would be held in February.
“But the CEC already knows that this year is an election year and it will be local elections, and we haven't predicted that there will be an early election, but local elections are the ones for which we prepare every four years”.
Daka has spoken the latest election process on February 14th. She said this process has been one of the most organised processes, EO reports.
The last election process has been one of the best organised processes not only is my personal assessment, but also the assessment of all those who have been part of the elections as well as those who have watched Election Day, but also all that has happened after the days of elections”.
