Construction of the Down Syndrome and Austin Centre is expected to be completed in November this year, said Centre for Down Syndrome and Austin director Sebahate Hajdini-Beqiri. Hajdini-Beqiri said that since 2015 they have launched the initiative to build this centre.
And if we compare the number of people with Down syndrome, Pristina has a greater number of people with Down Syndrome, the factor in their population in the region. It means the idea that we took as an association in 2015 to start building a center that will provide dignified services to people with Down Syndrome in view of the spaces we've been operating over the years, starting since 2007 as the association has not been sufficient spaces that haven't met the requirements. Given that we also treat members with Down Syndrome who are not alone in the Pristina region, but also other municipalities”, she said. “
Based on the information we have from the municipality that means in 2021 the centre's turquoise is located, the company is working intensively and is expected to complete the centre in November of this year”, she added.
On the other hand, Hajdin-Beqiri said they are conveying the centre's construction process, adding to how the works are going so far.
We're going to follow the construction process as far as the process has arrived, so we're content we've been constantly outlined to the company that's taken over the construction of the centre that needs to be seen every detail and any material that needs to be introduced into that center of quality. We hope that he will meet all standards and be a model center for other municipalities to do the same. We're focusing on not having people with Down Syndrome alone in Pristina, but throughout the Republic of Kosovo, our goal is to promote the state that each person with Down Syndrome has the service it needs”, she said of Online Economics.
Among other things, Association Director Down Kosova says reaching to launch this process has been conveyed with many challenges.
Anything that is done not only in terms of the centre but also to say the realisation of the rights of people with Down Syndrome, the rights that continue to be violated every day. Every day when these rights are not realized is delayed, as children need service at certain times. But above all, it's a good project going on, but in the delay it's been a process with a lot of challenges from different challenges, and that's one of the reasons it's lasted so long”, she said.
On the other hand, Hajdin-Beqiri has indicated about providing financial resources for the construction of this centre.
The <x0 History of this centre has started since 2015, as the initiative of Down Syndrome Kosovo, we have also invited the association of autism to join us in this project and we have organized the charity evening that took place on March 19th of 2015, and after the end of the evening of charity where we have also managed to collect money from citizens from businesses, from the various institutions that we have precisely transferred 75 thousand euros collected from that night to the government organisation's account <x1 Tika<2>, because in the meantime since 2015, our community has been ready to share the project, and I have already decided to put the project to support the <3x>
250 thousand euros are from the Pristina municipality, 75 thousand euros from Down Syndrome Kosova, as well as 75 thousand from the autism association”, it concluded.
