The job boycott and strike of public transport operators will continue today, while it has been warned that on Friday the Travelers' Road Transport Association will organise protests in Pristina, and all operators will bring buses to the Kosovo government.

The chairman of this association, Ruzhdi Kurtisaj, said on Wednesday that the Association's Steering Council made a decision that the strike for no circulation of road transport will continue today, while on Friday 10:00, all transport operators will defil by bus in Pristina in a sign of disappointment over the government's failure to implement the agreement to subsidise the economic losses that public transport operators have had in the pandemic.

Kosova Prees has also secured the agreement reached between this association and the Government of Kosovo reached on January 28th of this year, which says the “pals have agreed that urban transport is based on the miles held in the travel ranks proven by the Ministry of Infrastructure”.

While incumbent Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has asked the Travelers' Association to return services to citizens as soon as possible. He has expressed readiness for discussion with representatives of this sector aimed at finding a favourable solution.

The communique also states that travel transport sector businesses have been beneficial by government measures (eg. Paying 290 euros for number of employees, paying 50 %s of rent, paying 170 euros. At the end of the communique it is said that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many sectors and that it is impossible for the state to compensate for any losses that businesses have suffered

However, the head of the association said their demands are known for Government since last summer.

Kurtishaj has also said there is unity from bus owners in all cities to continue with the strike and protest until the realisation of the agreement.
