According to The Guardian states are easing restrictions after a drop in cases, although this decline has begun to rise to a high rate of 60,000 to 70,000 infections per day.
“We will go in the right direction, but we just need to stay a little longer” said Fauci told American media on Sunday.
Public health experts have warned that the US can undermine the progress associated with vaccines and allow thousands of preventable deaths by removing restrictions on early signs of improvements.
Otherwise, more than 54,000 people have died from Covid-19 in the US and January was the deadliest month of pandemic so far.
Meanwhile, Michael Osterholm, an epidemiologist who advised the Biden transition team, warned that the US is still “in the eye of Hurricane”.
Osterholm has told American media that the situation seems to be improving, but said he was concerned that the B117 version, which is 50% more infectious than other US variants, could create a new increase.
“We need to keep America as safe from this virus as possible by not allowing the removal of any of the public health measures we've taken and should vaccinate people as soon as possible” was quoted as saying Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.
