The move was prompted by intelligence that a group of unappointed militants planned an attack on March 4th the day the American presidents were inaugurated.
The House of Representatives has cancelled the session to be held today, Thursday, but the Senate will continue the agenda, the BBC writes, translates Periscopi.
This threat comes two months after the deadly attack on the building by a loyal group of former President Donald Trump.
They had broken the Capitol building in January while the lawmakers were inside to determine the victory of the Democrat Joe Biden. Mr. Trump still refuses to accept defeat in the election.
The clashes within the Capitol caused five people including a police officer to find death.
Supporters of a conspiracy theory believe that Mr. Trump will return to the White House on March 4th.
What did intelligence say?
At the end of February, an unidentified violent militant group has discussed plans to take over the American Capitol and remove democrat lawmakers on or around March 4th, and has discussed plans to convince thousands to travel to Washington DC,” has said an intelligence bulletin. /Periscope
