Albania: More Pfizer vaccine doses arrive Monday

Today there is a year in the fight against COVIED-19 in Albania, which began with the identification of the first two cases at the Virology Laboratory at the Public Health Institute and the treatment of two first patients at the Infective Hospital on March 9, 2020. Albanian Health and Social Protection Minister Ogerta Manastirliu, [...]
Albania's Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, has expressed gratitude and thanks to the health team of Infectiev, making a balance of this year's pandemic.
If we do a balance today, the balance is certainly thousands of lives saved, but unfortunately, we have 1956 lost lives, which are a great loss for all of us, a irreverent loss, so what I want to say is that the war is not over, of course there will be time for final balances, but what I want to point out is your courage, it's your spirit of sacrifice, it's hard work, even when the unknown was so great, you weren't afraid, you were never afraid, you were never held back to serve your mission and I thank you for all that, and I thank you for your work with respect.
Speaking of measures to cope with pandemic, the minister of health said:
“We still have a lot to do, but the fact that today we have more capacities added to intensive therapies, more respiratory capacity, we have about 507 respiratory respirations, lifesaving equipment, so we have a fleet of equipment that creates comfort above all for you, to offer quality health service and care, is a step more towards superiority to the virus, because surely victory requires more work, more sacrifice, and more than all the cooperation of the citizens, said Mansiast.
The health minister has guaranteed continued support for white T-shirts on the front line of the battle with the special bonus of 1,000 euros on wages for doctors and nurses and 500 euros for support staff, which has benefited over 40,000 health personnel. Manastirliu considered the light at the end of the tunnel the continuation of the vaccine process and announced that the supply of the next doses under contract with Pfizer company would continue.
I'm glad that within this week we finish vaccinating our medical, infiertative teams, and this is a step towards victory over the virus, but it's not enough because in fact the entire population, especially those who are priority groups, will receive the vaccine, just as we're doing. More than 20,000 vaccines have been conducted so far, we expect the next doses of Pfizer's contract to follow through on the vaccines of all personnel and seniors we've already conducted with the first dose. We expect COVAX to receive doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and we will be notified, I believe in a quick moment for the arrival of 14,400 vaccines from COVAX” instrument, Manastirliu said.
Doctors and nurses at the Infective Hospital said they are today more professionally prepared in dealing with COVID19 and called for citizens' co-operation to carry the war to the end.
Allow me to express my emotions for all the work done in this hospital, since the day that the first two cases was made, said today by making it easy, it was difficult that day. More was the share of emotion, fear and responsibility”, prof said. Nayada Chomo.
And prof. Tritan Kalo said: “This year has taught us a lot of things, but above all, it has taught us that nothing is overcome without team spirit and without the work of an entire team” / T CH
