A teenager who crashed from a car just before the coronavirus jam has woken up now with no recognition of the pandemic affecting the world.

Joseph Flavius, known as Joe, crashed out of the car on March 1st of last year while walking to Burton, Staffordshire. The 19-year-old spent all this time in a coma at the general hospital in Leicester, but now he's opened his eyes and moving his limbs.

His family is happy with the progress he's made but they're wondering how they can explain to him the pandemic, the blockage and social distance, writes Metro.co.uk, broadcast the Kosovo Clan.

His aunt, Sally Flavius-Smith, said: “At first his eyes were open, but he was not responding to anything, but over the last few weeks he has taken amazing steps. He's really trying to engage and smile. He's raising his limbs with instructions. He's making really good progress. We have to try to stay positive”.

The teenager, was infected with coronary twice while he was still in a coma and once when he woke up- but passed it. And only Joe's mother, Sharon Priestley, was allowed to visit her in the hospital because of COVID-19 rules. Joe moved to Adderley Green to Stoke, which provides neurological, physical and cognitive rehabilitation four months ago to help continue his recovery. Unfortunately, he came up positive for coronary for the second time, which means he had to isolate himself while he's there. Because of the restrictions, Joe's family is unable to visit him, but they speak at FaceTime and his aunt said his face shines when he sees friends and family on the screen.

The teenager is now making good progress after opening his eyes, and in recent weeks he has begun to move his limbs.
