CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi said on Monday that on February 2nd for confirmed applications, the voting process is expected to begin by mail.
“All citizens who manage to register successfully as voters abroad after meeting the legal criteria will be able to vote via mail starting on February 2nd. The ballots should be accepted by the CEC by 12 February”, he said.
The CEC has indicated yesterday that it has accepted a non-final report from the voting service regarding the period of application to register as voters outside Kosovo. The total number of apps placed on the system was 175,273.
Based on non-final data, the CEC has accepted some 131,500 voter registration applications outside Kosovo from 13 January to 21 January. After the verification, 43,801 apps have been removed as doubles, which have been submitted by applicants more than once to three voter service e-mails during the application period.
Only 33 apps have been accepted through postal fah and 195 others through the CEC fax, while most of them, 131.244, have been accepted through voting service e-mails.
After the application assessment, 101,839 registration applications were approved, while 29.633 were refused. In 29,100 cases, applicants have been rejected because they have not witnessed the identity or criteria of judicial skill or signed the registration app.
In another 65 cases, applicants have been rejected, as they do not reach the age of 18.
The CEC explains that this is not a final report since the voting service is still making checking printed documents and comparing them.
The CEC's voter service, officials from the call centre respectively, is continuing to verify through the applicant phone calls, which are approved after passing judicial skills criteria. Phone lines have been added to the call center, says the announcement.
Otherwise, early parliamentary elections on February 14th are held, as on December 21, 2020, the Constitutional Court declared Government Hoti as unconstitutional. The election campaign of political parties begins on 3rd and ends on 12 February.
