CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said that in northern Mitrovica on Election Day, voting will be allowed only with valid documents issued by Kosovo institutions.
“According to the law and direction of the CEC are only four documents that can be used to identify at the poll, the voter should have one of them. It's about ID, passport, travel document and valid driver's license. All these documents must be issued by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and be valid. This CEC directive applies to all municipal commissions and to all polling councils in all municipalities”, he said.
Elez has indicated that the approved guide informs commissioners of documents they could be voted into on Election Day.
“The Central Election Commission has approved the roadmap through which municipal election commissions are thus announced or instructed, as well as local decision-making councils in all municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, which are acceptable to identify a voter on election day”, he has said.
According to Elezit CEC, it will work so that on February 14th all citizens can exercise their right to vote.
“We believe that the preparations we are developing and which are being done simultaneously in all Kosovo municipalities. We believe that within this remaining period we will succeed in carrying out all our duties and on election day in all municipalities citizens can express their will so to exercise their right to vote”, he said.
