Montenegrin Health Minister Jelena Boroviniq-Bojovic confirmed that 2,000 doses of Russian vaccine Sputnik V will arrive from Serbia on Wednesday.
“2 thousand more doses will arrive in the following days. The government has conducted several bilateral negotiations in the past two months to provide the vaccine, and their first results are with Serbia”, She said.
Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic said she has agreed with Serbian Prime Minister Anna Brnabiq on the details of accepting vaccines.
Abazovic told the newspaper “Vijest” that the Montenegrin government expresses deep gratitude for this human gesture”.
The health minister has announced that Montenegro expects supply with the Russian vaccine, which has been secured by direct negotiations with Russia. According to her, Montenegro will also be supplied with the Chinese and German-American Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine.
Montenegro, which ranks first in the region with 1,376 contaminants for 100,000 inhabitants, is one of the last countries in the region to start immune against COVID-19.
