US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Saudi Faisal bin Farhan held a conversation in which they addressed a range of issues, ranging from human rights and to the war in Yemen, the State Department said.

Blinken, during the conversation, stressed the top priorities of the new US administration, including human rights and the outcome of the war, State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.

Saudi Foreign Minister Blinkent has told Blinken that Riyadh is eager to co-operate with President Joe Biden's administration to support “security and stability”, the Official Press Agency in Saudi Arabia reported.

This is the first conversation between the new US top diplomat with his Saudi counterpart, in which it was also discussed antiterrorism and co-operation to prevent attacks against Saudi Arabia, Price said.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden announced that his administration would stop supporting “military operations” in Yemen by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition.

Many democratic lawmakers and republics have demanded that Washington end military involvement in the conflict.

Yemen was involved in civil war in 2015, which has killed more than 100,000 people.

Most of the Yemeni population is on the verge of hunger.

The conflict takes place between the Huth group, which is backed by Iran and the Saudi-backed government.

The United States has announced that it aims to revote a terrorist appointment for the Huth movement in response to Yemen's humanitarian crisis.

Beden said on February 4th that the war, considered a conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran, “must end”. He also named veteran US diplomat Timothy Lenderking as the US special envoy for Yemen.
